August 2009
The month of August has been overwhelming as far as freedom-loving Filipinos are concerned. With the passing away of former President Corazon Aquino, the embers of People Power have been rekindled, showing how her exemplary leadership lives on long after she’s gone from public office and from our midst.
With memories of her sterling example as a transitory leader in 1986 until the country recovered from the years of repression under the Martial Rule, it would be good to refresh ourselves as Rotarians as we serve others above self.
This is also the time for your clubs to plan ahead for the New Generations Month in September. Our Rotary service will prosper beyond our lifetime if we already work on it today. Let’s get the ball rolling by mobilizing our Interactors, Rotaractors and other youth partners-in-service to set our plans in motion next month.
Needless to say, the fellowship of Rotarians worldwide gives ample recognition to those who show exceptional leadership in the area of Membership Development Initiatives, Presidential Citation, and Recognition of Smaller Club Membership Growth.
With these in mind, I bid everyone a productive August.
